NOTES & DETAILS

Over painted $50,000 of actual Vietnamese currency, this piece re examines US foreign policy and showcases the extreme devaluation of money. It features elements from the paper currency, blown up out of scale, re painted and re imagined. The square display is meant to bifurcate the currency, as if one were looking trough a magnifying glass or loop. The out of scale render is intentional, illustrating the absurdity.

War clearly paved the way for a cheap labor market in the 21st Century, Broken Banknote attempts to re ignite a long forgotten conversation around US policy and events of the past and that shape the consumer world we live in today.
