Libre! represents the use of the now defunct Cuban Convertible Pesos.(cuc) It has been sitting in the studio for some time, waiting for final elements to be added. The vacancy in the middle of the image, color palette and evisceration of the Che Guevara images, all play a role in representing failed economic policy, subtle beauty and a sense of longing.
In its debut show, Libre! took first place for mixed media and will be on other tours well into 2025.
